SALIDA, CO, JULY 18, 2025 – Tracy Kachadourian, a Salida native, seasoned Mediator, consensus
builder, and dedicated community advocate, announces her candidacy for Mayor of Salida, Colorado.
With deep roots in the community and a proven track record in business through her mediation practice,
Tracy offers a unique blend of resilience, empathy and leadership to guide Salida toward a vibrant,
inclusive future.
Raised in Salida’s foster care system, Tracy faced economic hardship following the closure of the Climax
Mine. Despite these challenges, the kindness of the Salida community left a lasting impact, inspiring her
return to give back. “Salida holds a special place in my heart,” Tracy said. “I’m committed to ensuring
every resident feels heard and supported, just as this community supported me during my time of need.”
Tracy’s professional background sets her apart. As a certified facilitator and mediator with over a decade
of experience, she has resolved complex disputes for government, educational, non-profit, business and
community organizations.
Her expertise in fostering dialogue and building consensus is ideally suited to the Mayor’s role, which
includes leading city council dealings and working with community constituents. Her two years with
Chaffee County Child Protective Services further deepened her understanding of local needs, particularly
for vulnerable populations.
While living overseas working with International Service Corps, Tracy pioneered two community
programs: a transitional housing initiative with life skills training for youth aging out of foster care and an
after-school tutoring and sports program. These efforts, rooted in her own experiences, demonstrate her
ability to create impactful, collaborative solutions—a skill she will bring to Salida to address the city’s
challenges.
Tracy’s multiple degrees in Psychology (B.A.), Community Development (M.A.) and Education (M.A.)
reflect her commitment to lifelong learning, equipping her to tackle complex issues with insight and
compassion. As a listener and communicator, she pledges to amplify every voice in Salida, fostering a
community where all residents thrive. “Salida’s strength lies in its people,” Tracy said. “I’m running to build
a brighter future that embraces growth while preserving our unique spirit.”
