The Buena Vista Police Department were called out on a Moose on the loose… near the caboose.

According to the Buena Vista Police Department’s Facebook page, a cow moose decided to take a dip in the Town Lake Tuesday morning which is near the historic BV Caboose. Colorado Parks and Wildlife helped monitor the situation.

The BV Police Department reminded the public that moose are wild animals and can be dangerous. Wildlife encounters are frequent in and around Buena Vista, with everything from racoons, to mountain lions, to bears. Wildlife needs to be treated with caution, and not approached.

Most wildlife will typically move along on their own if left alone. If you have any concerns about wildlife in the area, do not hesitate to call the Buena Vista Police Department or the Department of Parks and Wildlife.
