Thane R. Lincicome was born in Wichita, KS on November 2, 1940, to Landon and Mary Lincicome. After a brief illness, he died at home in Salida, CO on December 1, 2025. Thane moved with his mother and father to Glenwood Springs, CO when he was 5 years old. His mother soon got him into kindergarten even though school had already started. Evidently, his curiosity and mischievous attitude was already getting him in trouble, so, off to school. He graduated from Glenwood Springs High School in 1958 and then went on to the School of Mines in Golden, CO where he graduated in 1961 with a degree in Metallurgy. He and his first wife, Julie nee Threadgill, moved to Ashland, KY where he worked for Armco Steel Corporation. In 1966, Thane and Julie moved back to Colorado, to Denver, with their two daughters. Thane worked for DOW Chemical Company and Robinson Surveying while in the Denver area. Thane moved to Farmington, NM in 1975 to work as a surveyor on a large power plant (which has recently been demolished to make way for a solar array). There he met Betsy Bucher on a blind skiing date, and they married in 1976. They ended up in Carbondale, CO and stayed for 45 years. There Thane worked as a surveyor for Mid-Continent Coal and Coke and then finished his engineering career with CDOT as an engineer on the Glenwood Canyon I-70 Project. After he and Betsy retired, they moved to Turret, CO where they built a cabin together. Thane loved taking his daughters and grandkids skiing, hiking, backpacking and fishing. He was active with the Glenwood Downtown Development Group and on the Carbondale Trails Committee. Sudoku was one of his passions in later life. He and Betsy were lucky to travel abroad and all over the United States. Thane is survived by wife Betsy, daughter Shawna, sister Deborah, brother Sydney, three grandchildren, Benjamin, Maggie, Zachary, many nieces and nephews, and is predeceased by his parents and daughter, Holly . He will be missed by many Memorials will be held in Carbondale, CO (before the end of the ski season) and in Salida, CO. T-shirts with clever sayings or Hawaiian shirts may be “mandatory”).
