Park County Teachers Vote to Strike

Park County teachers have voted to strike for better pay.

The teachers say they are working second jobs and living paycheck-to-paycheck.

The District has 500 students and says they are “not sitting on vast cash overages.”  It says teachers did get a 6.5 percent salary increase this school year.

Teachers say that is misleading because it didn’t apply to all teachers and that the 6.5 percent raise only amounted to $2,000.

Ninety percent of the teachers voted last night in favor of a strike and are giving the district till tomorrow to negotiate a new salary.  If that doesn’t happen they are prepared to hit the picket line.
