Susan Elizabeth Raterman of Buena Vista, Colorado and lately of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on June 4th, 2025 surrounded by her children in Salida, Colorado. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 8th, 1953, to William Warren Graham and Laura Peavy Graham. Her parents returned to Colorado from Utah when she was two years old and she was raised in Denver, Colorado. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from The University of Colorado fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a nurse. She left this profession to raise three children full-time and eventually discovered a second career teaching exercise at a local gym while her children were growing up. She eventually acquired a master’s degree from the University of New Mexico in exercise physiology. She was passionate about teaching others, trail running, filling every square-inch of her garden, cooking for her family, painting landscapes, and seeing her children were prepared to succeed in their own lives. She eventually returned to being a nurse in Albuquerque, NM before retiring in Buena Vista, Colorado. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints up until her death and made many friends there. She is survived by her children Benjamin Raterman, Erin Raterman, mother to Sawyer and Ellis Brown, and Sarah (Jeremy) Hedges. She is also survived by her sister Mary Pat Graham. She is to be interred with her mother and her mother’s kin in Steamboat, Colorado.
