For the first time in about a week, expect a drop in the chances of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, as today starts a dryer pattern for the next week or so. There are still chances for some buildup, but only at 20 percent through the day.

Temperatures in the valleys today will rise to 87 under mostly sunny skies. Lows tonight will drop to 51.

In the high country, expect highs to peak at 71 before dropping down to 41 overnight under partly cloudy skies.
