State cross country sees great results for Buena Vista, Salida and Lake County

It was a fantastic day for the local teams on Saturday at the state cross country meet in Colorado Springs. The Buena Vista Demons had both boys and girls teams running in the 2A event, with Salida following with both in the 3A event. Lake County was also able to bring a full boys team in the 2A event as well.

In the girls race at 2A, the Demons would be led by Mallory Salazar who took 6th as an individual and Molly McMurry who took 10th. Buena Vista would get one spot away from the top spot with a 2nd place team finish and a bit of extra hardware to bring home with them!

The 2A boys saw Rosston Sherlock of Buena Vista lead the way to a 6th place finish for the Demons, powering to a 7th place finish on his own. The Demons would be outpaced by Lake County, who took 5th place as a team.

The 3A boys race saw Salida going in with some high hopes, and a high finish, with the team coming in 4th, just one point behind Skyview Academy for 3rd. Bean Minor would be the top Spartan finisher at 17th.

The Salida girls also put up some great times, but as a team would finish in 9th place on the day. The best news from the Spartans comes from their finishing three freshman in the top four of their team. Bright futures are definitely on the horizon for the girls.

For full results, you can find them on the CHSAA website.
