South Ark Neighborhood Plan Kicks Off January 31st

The City of Salida is excited to announce the kickoff of the master planning process for the South Ark Neighborhood—an approximately 100-acre portion of the former Vandaveer Ranch property that is currently owned by the City.

The process intends to identify the best uses for the site to serve the Salida community for generations to come—uses that could include recreational fields and facilities, housing (including affordable housing), natural open space, and educational facilities, among other possibilities. The process will culminate with an actionable master plan for the site.

The neighborhood plan will be guided by Studio Seed, a consulting group that includes professionals from around Colorado, including some from Salida. The process is expected to run through Summer 2023 and will include a variety of community engagement and public input opportunities. The first of these opportunities will take place on January 31st at the Salida SteamPlant Ballroom from 5:30 – 7:30PM. Come learn about the planning process and tell us your ideas and dreams for this important property. Light snacks and refreshments (including a cash bar) will provided. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend at any point during the event. Child supervision and activities (for children 1+ and walking) will be provided.
