Salida, CO — It’s Fire Prevention Month, and the Salida Fire Department is sounding the alarm on fire safety with community outreach and life-saving services.
Throughout the month, Salida firefighters will be visiting local schools to teach children about fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and how to stay safe in the event of a fire. These interactive sessions aim to empower students with knowledge that could save lives.
In addition, the department is offering free smoke alarm installations for residents in need. This initiative is made possible through a partnership with the American Red Cross and is available to anyone in the community who may not have working smoke alarms in their home.
“Fire safety starts with awareness and early detection,” said Chief Aaron Jonke. “We’re proud to be in our schools and neighborhoods, helping protect our community one home at a time.”
To schedule a smoke alarm installation, please contact the Salida Fire Department at 719-539-2212.
