Sophia Gibb, MBA, current Elections Deputy in the Chaffee County Clerk & Recorder’s Office, today announced her candidacy for Chaffee County Clerk & Recorder.
Gibb brings hands-on experience administering elections, managing complex public operations,
and ensuring statutory compliance. Appointed as Elections Deputy in October 2024, she holds
direct responsibility for both the day-to-day administration and long-term strategic operations of
Chaffee County’s Elections Division.
“I am running for Clerk & Recorder because I believe in fair, accessible, secure, and transparent
elections,” said Gibb.
In her current role, Gibb oversees all election functions, including voter registration, ballot
mailing, voting equipment, and voter service and polling centers, while also tracking
election-related legislation. She has been cross-trained in the Motor Vehicle Office, which is also
overseen by the Clerk & Recorder.
Gibb is a Colorado Certified Election Official (CCEO) and is actively completing the Certified
Election/Registration Administrator (CERA) program, a prestigious nationwide certification
recognized as the gold standard in election administration. She is scheduled to graduate from
the CERA program early in 2026, further reinforcing her commitment to professional excellence
and best practices.
In addition to her election expertise, Gibb holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA),
graduating with honors, and brings a strong background in public service and emergency
preparedness. Prior to joining the Clerk & Recorder’s Office, she served as a Special Project
Coordinator for Chaffee County Public Health, where she led initiatives in emergency
preparedness and community partnerships Gibb also recognizes more than a decade of service and leadership of current Clerk & Recorder
Lori Mitchell, who is concluding her tenure and will not seek reelection.
Beyond her professional career, Gibb is also known for her leadership and advocacy on the
national and international stage. A two-time Paralympic medalist, multi-time World Champion,
and former Team USA Paralympic Team Captain, she has long advocated for equity, access,
and representation. She currently serves on the Women’s Sports Foundation Leadership Board
and the Little People of America (LPA) Advocacy Committee, and has represented athletes and
communities on Capitol Hill.
“As Clerk & Recorder, I will bring leadership, institutional knowledge, and a deep respect for the
voters of Chaffee County,” Gibb said. “I am committed to secure, accessible elections,
responsible stewardship of public records, and excellent public service for every resident,
