Snow Slows Fires Progress

Heavy snowfall brought the Cameron Peak Fire in Larimer County to 64 percent containment and the fire remained at just over 208,000 acres.

The cause of the Cameron Peak Fire, which began August 13, is still under investigation. It is the first wildfire in Colorado history to grow beyond 200,000 acres.

The East Troublesome Fire’s containment increased yesterday from 15 to 20 percent. The fire’s acreage remained the same at 192,000 acres.

The conditions did allow several changes to evacuation orders, including several changing from mandatory to voluntary.  Others were lifted entirely.
