After days of searching and employing numerous resources from all over Colorado, the Chaffee County Sheriff reported last night that the two missing hikers, students at Colorado Mountain College, Leadville Campus, missing since last Friday, https://heartoftherockiesradio.com/conditions-could-impede-search-for-hikers/ Kaden Matsuda, age 19 from Ridgeway, CO and Jackson Donlon age 20 from New York were located deceased at about 3:30PM yesterday afternoon (10-28-26) in a basin of West Apostle Mountain in Chaffee County.
The Sheriff’s Office is not offering theories as to what may have happened until detailed investigation can be completed in partnership with the Chaffee County Coroner’s Office. The two were found near each other.
From Sheriff Andy Rohrich:
“Our heart aches for Kaden and Jackson’s family and friends. We are very proud of our team’s efforts to find them before this weekend’s coming storm. Although this is a gut punch, our prayers were answered that we would find Kaden and Jackson, allowing some closure for the family. We ask that everyone give time and distance to family members and friends as they mourn their loss.”
