Chaffee County authorities are continuing the search for Kaden Sites, a Salida man who has been missing for more than a week, according to an update shared Wednesday evening.

Andy Rohrich, Sheriff of Chaffee County, said search crews recently focused on a 275-acre area located north of the Weldon Creek subdivision. The area drew attention after a search and rescue canine indicated interest earlier this week. It lies a few miles south of where Sites’ vehicle was previously discovered.

Deputies reported that crews have covered extensive ground in their efforts so far, hiking approximately 110 linear miles and contributing a combined 130 man-hours in the search operation.

As the search moves forward, officials say efforts will become more sporadic in the coming days. Future operations are expected to include the use of specialized human remains detection and cadaver dogs.

At this time, Sheriff Rohrich stated that investigators do not suspect foul play or self-harm in Sites’ disappearance.

Kaden Sites was last seen on April 15 after heading out turkey hunting in the Mount Shavano area. He has not been heard from since.
