Rain showers are possible across the region today, mainly before 5 p.m., with winds gusting up to 45 miles an hour. Scattered showers will develop over the higher terrain, and a few could turn strong—bringing lightning, gusty winds, and some hail. Above 10,000 feet, light snow is possible, with one to three inches expected on the highest peaks.
In Salida & Buena Vista, Mostly sunny & Breezy, with a high near 70. Tonight, we will see a low near 35.
San Luis Valley: Mostly sunny & breezy, with a high near 65. Then back down to a low around 32 tonight.
Leadville & Fairplay: Partly sunny, with a high near 52. Breezy, with winds gusting as high as 30 mph. Overnights low will be near 26.
Looking ahead to the rest of the weekend: subfreezing temperatures are expected in the San Luis Valley late Saturday night into early Sunday. Be sure to protect sensitive vegetation and outdoor plumbing.
