Sangre de Cristo Electric Association, in partnership with the Chaffee County Community Foundation, has announced the recipients of the 2026 First Responders Grant Program.
The program, designed to support emergency responders across Chaffee, Lake, Custer, Fremont, and Saguache counties, has awarded a total of $5,000 to help enhance safety and operational capabilities in the region.
This year’s grant recipients include the Center Fire Protection District, Chaffee Search and Rescue South, the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office, Lake County Search and Rescue, and the Tallahassee Fire Protection District.
Funding for the grants comes from Sangre de Cristo Electric’s business partners as well as unclaimed or donated capital credits. Officials emphasize that no member bill payments are used to support the program.
