The City of Salida will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony tomorrow at 3 p.m. to mark the start of construction on Phase 1 of the South Ark Neighborhood infrastructure project. The celebration will take place just west of the green gate entrance off County Road 104.

Phase 1 will include the installation of essential water, sewer, and roadway infrastructure, laying the groundwork for future residential development in the South Ark Neighborhood.

The project is being funded through a mix of state grants, local partnerships, and city contributions. Salida has received $4 million from the state’s Strong Communities and More Housing Now initiatives. Chaffee County and Colorado Mountain College have each pledged up to $1 million, while the City of Salida has committed $1.25 millionfrom its Housing Fund, supported by short-term rental tax revenues.

The city invites all community members to attend the groundbreaking ceremony and celebrate this milestone in expanding affordable housing and infrastructure in Salida.
