The City of Salida Parks & Recreation Department and Stratton & Bratt Aquatic Division are happy to announce the groundbreaking for the installation of a Splash Pad at Centennial Park, which will be located opposite the skate park, on the bathroom and volleyball court side of the park.

This project is the result of the community surveying that occurred during the master planning process. A splash pad was ranked 5th in desired amenities behind better restrooms, outdoor soaking pools, a recreation center and a skate park.

Construction kicked off on Monday, August 22, 2022, and is expected to be complete
by November 2022.

The new addition to Centennial Park will be another location in our beautiful city to enjoy some family fun, while cooling off in the splash pad.

Danny “Dan R” Ridenour has been in radio and television broadcasting for over 40 years, starting as a senior in high school in Rogers, Arkansas. His radio career has had stops in Nashville, Memphis, Oklahoma, and eventually, Colorado. Dan enjoys being involved in the community, having been a member of the Upper Arkansas Service Club and is currently on the board of directors for the Salida Community Center and is a member of the Chaffee County Fair Committee. He and his wife Carrie spend their days doing everything the mountains have to offer: hiking, camping, fishing and skiing. They've raised 3 children and have 2 grandchildren.
