Superintendent Blackburn announced a special COVID-19 testing event for Salida School District Families.

We all realize that the community is moving into further restrictions due to viral spread. Only our personal social choices can slow the spread of the virus in our little town. If you are feeling symptomatic or travelled or realize you took risks this break, please consider participating in this testing event. We are trying to avoid any unnecessary exposures and quarantines on staff and families.

Salida School District COVID Testing Clinic

Thursday December 3rd, 12 pm to 3 pm
Chaffee County Fairgrounds, 10165 County Road 120, Salida

In order to successfully resume in-person learning on December 7th, Chaffee County Public Health and the Salida School District are partnering to offer a COVID testing clinic for any school aged family who:

  • Traveled for Thanksgiving
  • Saw people outside of their household
  • Are symptomatic
  • Or participated in any other activity that puts them at risk for developing COVID.

Please thoroughly read these important details:

  • You must sign up for testing by 8 am on Thursday, December 3rd. If you miss this cut off, CCPH also has our regular testing clinic on Friday, December 4th.
  • Each person to be tested will need their own individual appointment.
  • This clinic is being held at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds – NOT the Touber building.
  • Enter the Fairgrounds main entrance and follow directional signage. There will be a line of cars. Wear a mask and remain in your car. Continue to pull forward until someone comes to you.
  • Families should isolate themselves from others until they get their results. Results arrive via text message or email from the testing company, typically within 72 hours.
  • Results should be in before school starts on Monday. If for some reason you don’t have your results by Monday, please stay home from school until you get your results.
  • No eating, drinking (including water), smoking, vaping or chewing gum 20 minutes prior to your appointment time.
  • If you are on quarantine because of a previous exposure, a negative test result does NOT release you from quarantine any earlier. If you have a previous known exposure, it’s best to test 7 days after that exposure or when symptoms start.

As a reminder, this is a testing clinic for any school-aged family who participated in Thanksgiving activities that put them at risk for COVID exposure AND any school-aged family who is symptomatic. If you’ve read everything above and would like to make an appointment, click HERE. Appointments are first come, first serve.
