The Salida School Board is now accepting letters of interest for two open seats. 

Following the general election on November 2nd where there was not a candidate for director district 5, and the resignation of Joel McBride at the November 9th board meeting, there are currently two open seats on the Salida School Board.   

Those interested in being considered for appointment should submit a letter to the school board secretary by 5 pm on December 7th.  The school board will then interview prospective candidates on December 14th at a public meeting.   

To be eligible for appointment, a candidate must be a registered elector of the school district, and for the district 5 seat must also be a resident of the district.   

The appointees will serve until the next regular school election in November 2023.

Danny “Dan R” Ridenour has been in radio and television broadcasting for over 40 years, starting as a senior in high school in Rogers, Arkansas. His radio career has had stops in Nashville, Memphis, Oklahoma, and eventually, Colorado. Dan enjoys being involved in the community, having been a member of the Upper Arkansas Service Club and is currently on the board of directors for the Salida Community Center and is a member of the Chaffee County Fair Committee. He and his wife Carrie spend their days doing everything the mountains have to offer: hiking, camping, fishing and skiing. They've raised 3 children and have 2 grandchildren.
