The City of Salida is offering multiple ways for residents and visitors to ring in the New Year, with events planned throughout New Year’s Eve.

The city will host the annual Salida New Year’s Big Heart Drop on Tuesday night at the intersection of Sackett Avenue and F Street. The Salida Fire Department’s ladder truck will raise the iconic Heart 50 feet into the air, with the official drop scheduled for 9 p.m., making it a family-friendly, early-evening celebration.

Festivities for the Big Heart Drop will begin at 8:30 p.m., welcoming community members of all ages to gather and celebrate the arrival of the New Year together.

In addition to the outdoor celebration, the Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce is hosting a New Year’s Eve comedy night at the SteamPlant Event Center. Three comedians will perform during two separate shows, scheduled for 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Tickets for the comedy shows are $60 each and include hors d’oeuvres and party favors. Tickets are available online at salidachamber.org.

With events ranging from family-friendly festivities to live entertainment, Salida is offering something for everyone to celebrate the New Year.
