The Salida Police Department is warning the public about several suspicious or fraudulent emails that appear to have been sent by Police Chief Russ Johnson.
According to the department, the emails may contain encrypted links and credentials designed to make the messages appear legitimate and as though they originated from Chief Johnson.
Officials say the emails did not originate from the Salida Police Department and are advising community members not to open or interact with any messages of this type.
