Salida Police Arrest Man in Child Sexual Assault Case

On August 3rd, The Salida Police Department received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding a possible sex assault on an 8 year-old child.

The report stated that the alleged assault took place in the City of Salida as well as in Park County during the months of May and June, 2021. The NCMEC report stated that the suspect in the case was 56-year-old Salida resident John Turley.

Salida Police Detectives conducted an investigation and subsequently obtained probable cause to seek an arrest warrant for John Turley. Detectives were able to also obtain a Chaffee County Court issued search warrant for Turley’s Salida residence.

On August 6th, John Turley was taken into custody on his Chaffee County Court issued arrest warrant. John Turley was charged with One Count of Sexual Assault on a Child. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chaffee County Detention Center with the assistance of the Chaffee County Tactical Team.

After John Turley was arrested Salida Police Detectives served the search warrant at his Salida residence where potential evidence for the case was collected. Additional criminal charges may be forthcoming in the case.
