The coaching carousel is an ever moving machine and it is moving in the area high schools once again.
The Salida Spartans will be looking for a new girls basketball coach as Heather Eagen has stepped down after going 38-38 in three years, taking the Spartans to the postseason two times where they would fall to eventual state champion St. Mary’s in the second round.
The Cotopaxi boys basketball team will also be seeing a new face at the helm. After only one year, Matt Schwindt is leaving to coach for a charter school in Canon City. In his one year as the head coach for the boys basketball team, the Pirates went 14-6 and were eliminated from districts one game from qualifying for regional play. Schwindt was also an assistant football coach for the Pirates.
