Celebrating 50 years of bringing classical music to the Arkansas Valley, Salida Aspen Concerts will host its Local Concerts fundraiser this weekend at A Church in Salida.
The performances will highlight the rich musical talent of the local community with a diverse program featuring jazz, show tunes, and classical favorites. Concert times are 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8 at A Church, 419 D Street.
This year’s program features a variety of talented local performers, including André Wilkins on saxophone and vocals, along with the Jazz Merchants Community Jazz Band. Liz Riley, joined by Cody Alexander and Hannah Salisbury, will perform selections from popular show tunes.
The classical portion of the program includes Kirsten Arbogast performing Schubert vocal works with Yufen Chou, who will also present “España” by Isaac Albéniz. Additional piano and vocal selections will be performed by Rebecca Poos, Joan Lobeck, and Dave Small.
For five decades, Salida Aspen Concerts has brought world-class classical music to the Arkansas River Valley, helping connect the community through live performances.
The Local Concerts serve as a fundraiser supporting the organization’s summer concert series, which features six performances beginning Saturday, July 11 at Salida High School.
Tickets for the Local Concerts, along with memberships and season tickets for the summer series, are available online at salidaaspenconcerts.org.
