Salida 6th Grade Switch To Remote Learning Starting Thursday

Beginning Thursday, April 29th, all classes for Salida Middle School’s 6th grade students will be held remotely. This will be in effect for the next three days of school.

This is being done both as a response to a few positive Salida Middle School student COVID cases and as a way to mitigate the chances of additional positive spread of cases here at school. Currently, this only impacts 6th graders.

This means that beginning Thursday, April 29th and ending Tuesday, May 4, that all academic classes for 6th grade students will be held remotely, via Google Classroom. There will be NO elective classes held for 6th graders during this remote period.

Classes begin at 9:00 and will end at 1:00 each of these days. The expectation is that all 6th grade students, log in to Google Classroom and participate with their teachers for all of their CORE/ACADEMIC classes. This would include math, language arts, social studies, and science. We have also built-in time each afternoon for tutorial help and individual student check-ins.

Students will need to be in their online classes on time each day. Attendance will be taken and grades and assignments will be counted. Please let both the teacher and myself know if you or your child is having any connectivity or technology issues during this time.

Please note, if you have NOT been contacted by either the school nurse, Cari Beasley, or Chaffee County Public Health, that your student was not in direct contact with a positive case. However, if you have questions feel free to contact the school nurse.

We have prepared for this all year and all students should have the required Chromebooks and login abilities.
