A water main break has closed 1st Street/Highway 291 in downtown Salida between G Street to I Street. This section of highway will be closed starting today and will remain closed through Thursday.
Local traffic can take Sackett Avenue and 2nd Street as alternate routes.
Through traffic should use the Highway 285/50 route through Poncha Springs while Highway 291 is closed.
However, motorists will encounter delays on U.S. 50/285 in Poncha Springs this week.
Utility work will be performed just north of the 50/285 and West Poncha Avenue intersection. You can expect periodic stops and interruptions of the operation of the traffic light signal. A 10 foot width limit will be in place.
