Reminder to Drivers, Chain Law Now in Effect Through May

The Colorado State Patrol is reminding drivers that September officially marks the start of the state’s Chain Law and Passenger Vehicle Traction Law. 

Now through May 31st, all commercial vehicles must carry chains.  If drivers don’t comply with the restrictions, they could face fines up to $1,000 if they get stuck or block the road. 

Smaller cars have to have tire chains, approved ATD tires and tire tread depth must me at least 3/16 of an inch and must be labeled “all weather” or “mud and snow.”
