The National Weather Service is warning of critical fire weather conditions beginning today across Colorado, with elevated fire danger expected statewide.
Strong west winds, warm temperatures, and extremely low relative humidity are creating prime conditions for rapid fire growth. In some areas, wind gusts could reach up to 50 mph, with humidity levels dropping as low as 7 percent.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect, meaning critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will develop shortly. Fires that start under these conditions can spread quickly and behave unpredictably.
Officials stress that no open burning is allowed, and residents are urged to avoid any activities that could spark a fire. Fire danger may remain elevated through Friday as dry and breezy conditions continue.
