Chaffee County Sheriff Andy Rohrich is keeping the county in Stage 2 Fire Restrictions after reviewing the latest data. Most of Chaffee County remains in exceptional drought despite recent moisture. Because of this, Chaffee County will remain under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions, along with Lake, Park, Saguache and Fremont counties.
The Rio Blanco Fire burning 12 miles south of Pagosa Springs is just over 1,200 acres with 12% containment.
The Aspen Acres Fire in Custer, Pueblo, Fremont, and Huerfano counties has burned 102,000 acres with containment at 71%.
The Willow Fire west of Leadville is 7,200 acres with 67% containment. All evacuation zones have been downgraded to pre-evacuation status.
The Gold Mountain Fire burning in Montrose, Ouray and Gunnison counties is just over 39,000 acres with 89% containment.
Areas of moderate to heavy smoke from out-of-state wildfires can be expected again today. People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outside.
