Raffaela “Ruth” Guccione Obituary
Raffaela Francesca (Ruth) Guccione
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Raffaela Francesca (Ruth) Guccione. She was a beloved wife, mother, Nana, and Great-Nana, who left this world peacefully at her home on June 25, 2026, after a brief illness. Raffaela was born on December 8, 1932, in the charming town of Gesuiti, Calabria, Italy. She was the cherished daughter of Francesco and Margarita DeLio.
Raffaela’s life was a testament to love, devotion, and selflessness. She was predeceased by her parents, her cherished sister Maria, her devoted husband Remo Lucio, and many dear relatives. She is survived by her five children: her daughters Carolina Guccione, Mirella (Matt) McKnight, and Mary (Jeremiah) McGlasson, and her sons Pete (Tracey) Guccione and Frank Guccione. Her four grandchildren are Fabian McGlasson and Gianni McGlasson (children of Mary and Jeremiah), and Eric McKnight and Kaylee McKnight (children of Mirella and Matt). She also leaves behind three great-grandsons: Nikolai, Giovanni, and Westyn McGlasson.
On May 6, 1956, Raffaela and Remo Lucio Guccione married in Gesuiti. Their union endured for decades and was a beacon of love and commitment. Together, they raised a family, nurtured daily by Raffaela’s devotion and affection. After her husband’s passing on March 17, 2001, she remained the family’s glue, staying strong for them and showing devotion and boundless affection.
In April 1966, Raffaela and Lucio moved to Salida, Colorado, with their four children while she was six months pregnant with their youngest. They worked hard to provide a loving home, preserving Italian traditions such as wine-making, sausage-making, gardening, and baking.
She found her greatest joy in being a homemaker. In this role, she excelled as a wife, mother, and Nana. Her kitchen was always filled with the tantalizing aromas of her cooking and baking. This was a testament to her love of feeding everyone who gathered around her table. Her dishes were more than meals; they were expressions of love, comfort, and home.
Her family and friends will gather to celebrate Raffaela’s life on July 2, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Church in Salida, Colorado. This service will be an opportunity to honor a life well-lived and to say goodbye. Raffaela’s love and warmth touched everyone she met. There will be a private committal service later for the family at Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Raffaela’s memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Raffaela Francesca Guccione leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering family devotion. Her gentle spirit and kind heart will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband, Remo, and her family in the warmth of heaven.
