Buena Vista Trustees will hold a public hearing tonight (Aug. 22nd) on designating the Pearl Theater building at 316 Main Street a Historic Local Landmark.
In other business, Trustees will direct staff to file the Town’s commitment to become eligible for affordable housing funding through Proposition 123, will hear a final update on the status of the new police station capital project, and will consider a resolution approving an amendment to temporary interim town administrator Phillip Puckett’s employment agreement.
A work session will precede the regular meeting at 6 pm and will cover wildfire mitigation with Sangre de Cristo Electric.
A group called “BV Tree Coalition” is asking the public to show up at tonight’s Trustee meeting to voice concerns about Sangre de Cristo’s policy of cutting down trees near power lines. In a Facebook post, the BV Tree Coalition says they have over 450 signatures demanding that Sangre de Cristo Electric take a one year pause on mass tree cutting in Buena Vista in order to conduct a more thorough study on the better alternative of burying electric lines.
