On Saturday, 04-19-25, at approximately 5:28PM Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Ryland Geske was performing routine patrol on Hwy 24 East of Johnson’s Village when he received a safety notification from the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office Flock camera system (stationary license plate readers). The safety notification was in regards to an owner of a motor vehicle that had multiple warrants for his arrest and that same motor vehicle was just observed on the Flock camera eastbound on Trout Creek Pass.

Deputy Geske was able to locate the motor vehicle on Trout Creek Pass in Chaffee County a short time later and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however, the driver of the vehicle refused to stop. Deputy Geske pursued the vehicle toward Park County attempting to get the driver of the motor vehicle to stop for several minutes but due to the driver’s erratic and dangerous driving behavior the pursuit was terminated by a Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office Supervisor only after Deputy Geske got a good look at the driver of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as the same party with the associated warrants, Bruce Rowland Miller, age 43 from Denver, CO. Deputy Geske authored an arrest warrant for Miller for felony eluding and reckless driving.

Over the next several days the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office Investigations and Patrol Division worked with the United States Marshall’s Office to locate Miller. On Wednesday, 04-24-25, using technology, the team was able to locate Miller at a hotel in the Johnson’s Village area on Highway 24. Chaffee County Deputies attempted to make contact with Miller in his hotel room but he refused to exit. The Chaffee County Combined Tactical Team was called out to assist with the arrest. Miller eventually exited the building and surrendered without incident after the tactical team deployed tear gas into his room. No citizens or law enforcement were injured during the incident.

Miller is being held in the Chaffee County Jail on a no bond felony parole violation fugitive of justice warrant, a $1,000 bond misdemeanor warrant out of Chaffee County, a $500 bond traffic offense warrant out of Boulder, CO and the warrant obtained by Deputy Geske ($5,000 bond warrant out of Chaffee County for vehicular eluding, a class 5 felony, and reckless driving, a class 2 misdemeanor. Miller is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.

“Our investigations, patrol and tactical teams remained determined to take Miller into custody. Although they had to let him go a few days earlier to ensure no innocent motorists were injured, they did not give up. Our team was unwavering in their pursuit to ensure that Miller was held accountable for his actions and did so, because of their exceptional training, without loss of life or injury.” -Sheriff Andy Rohrich
