Meet Nancy! She’s the Heart of the Rockies Radio Pet of the Week!
Nancy is a loving 1 year old Australian Cattle dog mix. She had quite the journey to recovery here at AVHS. A kind Samaritan found Nancy and brought her to the Ark Valley Humane Society. She appeared to have a severe respiratory infection and had extremely low energy and little appetite. Some days were very touch and go for Nancy, but she started to show small improvements, and is now back to full health!
Nancy got to spend some time in a loving foster home with another dog that she did great with! She’s back at the shelter now and ready to meet her family. If you’ve been looking for a loving and resilient dog, please consider Nancy.

Tails on the Trail
The Ark-Valley Humane Society’s 2023 Tails on the Trail 5K is Saturday, May 20th, and there are some major improvements this year. The 5K course has moved to Tenderfoot hill in Salida and this year, AVHS is hosting an after party at the Salida SteamPlant. Whether or not you join in during the 5K, you can still celebrate after the race. Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome at the SteamPlant plaza (just outside).
Fundraising games, brunch from KalamataPit catering, and music and merriment for all will take place at the SteamPlant directly following the 5K race, which starts at 11 am. Tickets are available at ark-valley.org/events/tott/.
