With the current dog population at the shelter lower than usual, Ark-Valley Humane Society is shining a spotlight on one of its longest residents. Kida has been named this week’s Pet of the Week as the organization prepares for an important dog transfer to assist a partner rescue.
Kida first arrived at the shelter 478 days ago. While it’s difficult to imagine her spending that much time without a permanent home, she has never been without love and support. Throughout her stay, Kida has been surrounded by dedicated staff members, compassionate volunteers who regularly walk her, and a committed foster family who has provided stability and care during her journey.
Shelter staff say they remain hopeful that Kida’s perfect match is out there and are committed to supporting her until she finds the loving home she deserves.
Meanwhile, Ark-Valley Humane Society is stepping up to assist one of its partner organizations following a large-scale rescue effort in New Mexico. Ninety Great Pyrenees were recently removed from a single home in Bloomfield, NM, in what officials described as a hoarding case.
Many of the rescued dogs were transferred to Denkai Animal Sanctuary, where capacity has since been reached. To help relieve overcrowding and support ongoing recovery efforts, Ark-Valley Humane Society is welcoming two Great Pyrenees from Denkai, along with two additional dogs.
The shelter encourages community members to follow its social media channels for updates on the incoming dogs and ways to support their care.
