One Custer County Escapee Caught, One to Go

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office is reporting today that one of the two escapees from the Custer County Jail has been apprehended.

Jerry Williams was arrested after law enforcement received several tips that Williams was hiding in a home in Walsenburg. A search warrant was obtained for the residence and Williams was found hiding in a crawl space.  He initially barricaded himself inside the home and refused to come out.  Pepper spray was deployed and after a brief period deputies were able to talk Williams out of the residence.

Williams was taken to the Custer County Detention Center for booking. He is being charged with multiple felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from the escape including kidnapping, assault on a peace officer, and aggravated motor vehicle theft.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office is still following leads as to the whereabouts of Bryan Webb who remains at large.
