New Year’s “Heat is On”

The Colorado Department of Transportation reminds drivers to expect heavier than normal traffic in many areas across the state this weekend as people travel for the holidays.

The leading causes of crashes are speed, distractions and driving under the influence.

A New Year’s DUI enforcement period begins today and runs through January 2nd.

The Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State Patrol and local law enforcement are teaming up in an effort to remove impaired drivers from Colorado roads.

Expect sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols and additional law enforcement on duty dedicated to impaired driving enforcement.
