The Chaffee County Community Foundation (CCCF) has officially launched the Friends of Public Health and Prevention Fund, a new initiative aimed at sustaining and strengthening Chaffee County’s local public health system.
According to the CCCF website, “Funding for public health and prevention has always been dynamic, complicated and uncertain,” often requiring a mix of insurance reimbursements, county contributions, and grants. The new fund gives residents and supporters an opportunity to contribute directly to free and low-cost health programs in the county.
Chaffee County Public Health will set funding priorities and remain accountable for sustaining current programming and personnel.
“The creation of this new fund could not have come at a more appropriate and necessary time,” said Public Health Director Andrea Carlstrom in a press release. “Public Health is so grateful for the outpouring of support from the community we care about so much, and the relationship we have with the Community Foundation is a testament to how proactive and forward thinking Chaffee County is.”
Residents can make tax-deductible donations to the fund through the Chaffee County Community Foundation by visiting chaffeecommunity.org.
