The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says a fire that started burning over the weekend was around an acre in size. The fire is being called the Cap Rock Fire and is 14 miles northwest of Canon City.
According to officials, the fire was reported Sunday afternoon on Bureau of Land Management lands between Cabin Creek Lane and State Highway 9.
The fire was burning in heavy fuels which is resulting in visible smoke in the area.
There have no updates on acreage or containment as of Tuesday morning.
