An investigation is underway into a suspected murder-suicide involving a child in Teller County. Teller County Sheriff’s Office investigators say the murder-suicide involved a father and son.
At this time, it’s unclear who is considered the victim and who is considered the suspect in the case. Additionally, the sheriff’s office isn’t clarifying where the murder-suicide took place, despite a Facebook post indicating a possible location in Florissant.
During a press conference on Thursday, January 5th, Sheriff Jason Mikesell with the Teller County Sheriff’s Office explained that deputies had actively searching for the suspect Wednesday night and Thursday morning, but they weren’t able to locate them in time.
Sheriff Mikesell told KKTV, “I wish that we, as an agency, could be there to protect people all the time, but in this circumstance, we couldn’t. I can’t give you the ages. I will tell you that it was a male as a father, and then a younger male.”
The Teller County Sheriff’s Office said yesterday that more information will be released after the Colorado Bureau of Investigation completes its investigation.
