A decision to whether there’s enough evidence to proceed with the criminal case against Barry Morphew, who is suspected of murdering his wife Suzanne, will be decided by the judge in mid-September.

After 20 hours of testimony in a preliminary hearing that spanned four days, District Judge Patrick Murphy told the court he would rather make the decision correctly than quickly.

Judge Murphy will make his ruling on whether to proceed to trial on September 17th. The arrest affidavit in the case, which has remained sealed, will also be addressed.

49-year-old Suzanne Morphew has been missing since May 10, 2020 from the Maysville area. Her body has yet to be found.

Almost a year to the day following her disappearance, 53-year-old Barry Morphew was arrested and charged with first degree murder after deliberation, tampering with physical evidence, and an attempt to influence a public servant.
