The daughters of Suzanne Morphew have withdrawn their request to have their mother’s remains released by the state.
The two had filed a motion last month seeking the return of the remains, but the Alamosa County District Attorney opposed the request, arguing that the body is critical evidence in an ongoing criminal case.
A hearing had been scheduled for yesterday, but the daughters withdrew their motion before a judge could issue a ruling. No reason was given for the decision.
Suzanne Morphew’s husband, Barry Morphew, is currently facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with her death. His trial is scheduled to begin in mid-October.
