Breaking News: Barry Morphew was arrested in Boulder County last night. Deputies arrested Morphew on an Alamosa County failure-to-comply charge, according to a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office news release. He was arrested without incident and booked into Boulder County Jail.
On Wednesday an Alamosa County District Court judge ordered Morphew to remain at home after it appeared he was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Denver. According to prosecutors, Morphew hit two vehicles, offered the driver money to avoid involving police, and fled the scene after learning police were being called.
Under that order, Morphew can only leave his home if he experiences a medical emergency. He must call for an ambulance.
According to court records, Morphew is being held at the Boulder County Jail on a $3 million cash-only bail. A bond hearing is scheduled for next Tuesday in Alamosa District Court.
Morphew is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife Suzanne, who disappeared in 2020 in Chaffee County and was later found dead in a shallow grave near Moffat in Sept. 2023
