Chaffee County Commissioners have revoked the certificate of occupancy for Monarch Mountain Lodge. Guests were given 48 hours to vacate the premises.

Building code violations and a recent water boil order from the Colorado Department of Health prompted the decision. The Monarch Mountain Lodge Wastewater Company supplies water for most of the residents of Garfield. The Department of Health said they were aware of several pressure loss events at the lodge that could lead to disease-causing organisms to enter the water supply, which could make people sick.
