Monarch Mountain will open No Name Basin on Thursday, January 29, 2026, marking one of the most significant terrain expansions in the ski area’s history. The debut of the Tomichi Lift adds 377 acres of lift-served terrain which will deliver 12 new runs, expansive views, and a distinctly Colorado mountain experience.
With this opening, Monarch Mountain becomes one of the few ski areas in North America to offer skiing on both sides of the Continental Divide. The terrain features a mix of intermediate and advanced runs defined by natural fall lines, wide-open descents, and fun tree islands.
“We’re incredibly grateful for our team, partners, and the community members who helped bring No Name Basin to life,” said General Manager Chris Haggerty. “It’s beyond rewarding to see it come together, and we’re excited for everyone to experience this new terrain for the first time.”
No Name Basin will open at 9:30 a.m., with a single access gate located near the Tomichi Lift top terminal accessible via the Breezeway Lift. The Panorama terrain access via Great Divide will open at 10a.m. The first ten chairs on the Tomichi Lift will be guaranteed to the first skiers and riders in line at the Breezeway Lift that morning. Guests hoping to be among the first are encouraged to arrive early and plan accordingly.
As skiers and riders make their way to the bottom, conditions may be variable, and guests are advised to use caution, particularly near road cuts while enjoying the terrain.
Beyond the additional acreage, No Name Basin reflects Monarch Mountain’s long-term commitment to thoughtful growth and authentic skiing. The expansion prioritizes uncrowded terrain while preserving the mountain’s character and community-driven culture.
