Authorities say a missing snowmobiler was found dead Sunday in avalanche debris in Summit County, Colorado.
According to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, a Flight for Life helicopter crew located the man after he was reported missing Saturday near the Resolution Creek area. Officials have not yet released the victim’s identity.
The discovery comes as avalanche danger remains elevated across Colorado’s central mountains.
Earlier on Saturday, a backcountry skier was also caught and killed in an avalanche near Vail Pass, marking a second fatal incident in the region over the weekend.
The Colorado Avalanche Information Center currently rates avalanche danger in the central mountains as “considerable,” warning that dangerous avalanche conditions exist and urging backcountry travelers to use extreme caution.
