Memorial Procession For Deputy Williams is Today

A memorial procession in honor of Deputy Roy Williams has been set for Monday, November 18th.

From Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze:

On November 5, 2019, Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Roy Williams, age 28, from Salida, passed away.

Roy served honorably in the United States Army and completed tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Roy began his career in law enforcement with the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office in January of 2018. Roy served honorably as a sheriff’s deputy and was well respected by both his peers and command.

In honor of Deputy Roy Williams a procession of first responder vehicles and family will commence at 10:30 am on Monday, November 18. The procession will travel south on Hwy 24 through Buena Vista to Hwy 285. The procession will then continue south on Hwy 285 and then travel east on Hwy 291. The procession will continue on Hwy 291 and then travel south on F St. At Hwy 50 the procession will go westbound on Hwy 50 leaving Salida city limits.

A private ceremony will then be held in Roy’s honor at the commencement of the procession.

In honor of Deputy Roy Williams a GoFundMe account has been set up in Roy’s name. Funds from this account will be used to offset any unforeseen costs the family incurs. All other funds will be donated to assisting veterans suffering from PTSD.
