Meet Boo – A Very Special Kitten

Allow me to introduce you to Boo. My family adopted him from the Ark-Valley Humane Society last Thursday.

Boo is a very special kitten. He was born with Manx Syndrome which is a form of Spina Bifida. That caused Boo’s spine to develop improperly and his tail not to grow. He also has issues with his hips and back legs, but as you can see in the video below, it doesn’t slow him down much.

Boo is my son Jack’s kitten. Jack was diagnosed with Asperger’s when he was five-years-old (he just turned 11). Asperger’s is a form of Autism that is a developmental disorder characterized by difficulty with social interaction and nonverbal communication, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

Boo is a very special cat for a very special boy. I feel like they needed each other. We all love Boo very much.

I encourage everyone to visit the Ark-Valley Human Society and adopt a shelter pet. Don’t overlook an animal just because he may not have a tail, or hops like a bunny, because that animal may be the perfect match for you.

Special animals make the best friends.
