The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a concerning situation on the Mineral Belt Trail near the local animal shelter following reports of harassment and assault.

According to authorities, a white male believed to be between 30 and 35 years old, accompanied by two off-leash dogs, has allegedly been targeting female trail users. The incidents have prompted an active alert as officials work to identify the individual.

Residents and visitors are urged to call 911 immediately if they see someone matching the description or experience any suspicious or threatening behavior.

Out of an abundance of caution, the sheriff’s office is advising the public to avoid the area if possible. Those who do use the trail are encouraged to remain alert, walk in pairs or groups, and keep a phone readily accessible in case of emergency.

Anyone with information related to the suspect is asked to contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
