The Lake County Community Fund (LCCF) has announced it will not host the annual We Love Lake County Community Dinner in 2025. In a press release, the organization said it hopes to bring the popular event back in 2026.
The LCCF Board stated, “After careful consideration during these unsettled times, the LCCF Board has decided to postpone this year’s gathering in favor of other meaningful ways to celebrate our common bonds.”
The decision follows growing concerns about immigration enforcement in Lake County, which has caused fear among many community members. In an interview with the Leadville Herald, LCCF Executive Director John McMurtry said, “The Community Dinner is for the community, but a good percentage of our community is going through anxiety and fear. You have parents that are afraid to take their children to school, afraid to go to work, afraid to go to church because they’re fearful that they are going to get picked up and deported.”
The annual dinner has historically served as a unifying event, bringing together people from across Lake County to celebrate shared values and community strength.
