The La Plata Fire is burning about two miles north of La Plata Peak, west of Twin Lakes, and south of Highway 82 near the Chaffee–Lake County line.
As of last night, the fire was estimated between 15 and 20 acres, burning entirely on National Forest Service land. No evacuations or pre-evacuations have been issued.
Forest Service crews are on scene, and the public is asked to avoid the area so responders can focus on the fire.
